Christian Louboutin, the Parisian shoe designer whose shoes are instantly recognisable from their immaculately lacquered red soles, is planning to give his Motcomb Street boutique a makeover. The shop opened in Motcomb Street ten years ago, when Louboutin was one of fashion’s best-kept secrets.
Since then, the glamorous shoes have been worn by many of the world’s most glamorous women – from Princess Caroline of Monaco and Queen Rania of Jordan to Hollywood movie stars such as Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie.
Louboutin recently opened a second boutique in Mount Street in Mayfair, and the look and feel of the new store is very different from the Motcomb Street shop. “I like to give each store its own identity,” says Christian. “It’s a totally different crowd, so one hasn’t been affecting the other. Belgravia is doing very well but I don’t want it to look like the older sister, so I’m going to give it a little facelift.”
